Welcome to my sewing studio!
I started sewing at the age of 9. My mom had me sew towels cut apart to create wash clothes for the family. My job was to zig zag the edges to keep the edges from fraying. This is how my mom introduced me to sewing. My mom is very crafty. She crochets, knits, sews quilts, sews clothing, and made macrame projects when I was a young girl. She is my inspiration.
When I was in high school, I made a purple Raggedy Ann in home economics. Purple is my favorite color so it was without question that purple would be the color I used. She turned out amazing. I realized how fun it was to sew and help others with sewing. I help my classmates with their projects too.
I lived in Okinawa, Japan for a couple of years with my first husband when he was in the service. My mother was able to travel to visit me when my son was born. What did we do? We sewed quilts. We made simple nine-patch quilts and tied them off with yarn. This is a precious memory for me. My family then moved to Phoenix, Arizona. When my daughter was born I made all of her bedroom decorations, baby bed bedding, and many of her clothes. I enjoyed every moment.
Fast forward to the Covid lockdown 2020. After many years, a new husband, and the most free time I have had in years, I picked quilting back up. My husband said, “What about that quilt you started? Why don’t you work on it?” He did not know what that comment started. I forgot how much I love to sew and never looked back. I first started making quilts and was just sewing in the ditch and straight lines across the quilts and realized I wanted more. I knew very quickly that I wanted a long arm to finish my quilts. The last couple of years, I refined my skills on the long arm with my own quilts and a few close friend’s quilts. Now I am ready and so excited to long arm quilts for clients.
